The US has deployed Carrier Strike Group 2 (CSG-2) led by the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) and consisting of 1 Ticonderoga Class Cruiser and 3 Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyers which have just left the Norfolk, Virginia base , which will head to the Eastern Mediterranean. The largest aircraft carrier with dozens of F-18 super hornet fighter jets will join Carrier Strike Group 12 led by USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) and Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) as well as several other ships from various navies Ally.
