Madison Beer - Reckless
Madison Beer - Reckless (Live Performance)
When artists immerse themselves in their songs, things heat up quick.
Watch Madison Beer enter the emotions of “Sour Times” in our new studio performance.
Eyes closed, she drifts towards the chiming motif that her guitarist picks out, entering the world of music and lyrics like it’s a cool summer pond.
Utterly comfortable, our LIFT alum can now let her emotions take over as her vocal skills guide the action.
Beer likes to be super present in her performances; the same vibe dominates her “Reckless” performance.
It’s been that way since she was a kid with ‘American Idol’ dreams and a love of Britney Spears.
Inspired by the talents of heroic pop interpreter Christina Grimmie, the 12-year-old Madison was sharing her skills on YouTube when Justin Bieber caught her channeling Etta James and became not only a superfan, but an active supporter.
Beer blossomed from there and went pro, dropping a string of singles that began in 2015.
But her first big splash arrived when she put her emotions up front in last year’s “Selfish,” which was built on the “honesty and vulnerability” of real romantic events.
Fans reacted to the candor, and this Tame Impala zealot, who also made a dent with 2020’s grown-up track “BOYSHIT,” bolstered both her music’s depth and impact. Leveling-up is fun to watch.
Let Madison take you there…
Lyrics:
Hey, this is a story I hate
And telling it might make me break
But I′ll tell it anyway
This chapter's about
How you said there was nobody else
Then you got up and went to her house
You guys always left me out
I still have the letter you wrote
When you told me that I was the only girl
You′d ever want in your life
I guess my friends were right
Each day goes by and each night, I cry
Somebody saw you with her last night
You gave me your word, "Don't worry 'bout her"
You might love her now, but you loved me first
Said you′d never hurt me, but here we are
Oh, you swore on every star
How could you be so reckless with my heart?
You check in and out
Of my heart like a hotel
And she must be perfect, oh well
I hope you both go to hell
I still have the letter you wrote
When you told me that I was the only girl
You′d ever want in your life
I guess my friends were right
Each day goes by and each night, I cry
Somebody saw you with her last night
You gave me your word, "Don't worry ′bout her"
You might love her now, but you loved me first
Said you'd never hurt me, but here we are (here we are)
Oh, you swore on every star
How could you be so reckless with my heart? (Heart)
How could you be so reckless?
How could you be so reckless?
How could you be so reckless with someone′s heart?
Hey, this is a story I hate
But I told it to cope with the pain
I'm so sorry if you can relate
